The plan was to camp and be on the water early to catch a winning fish. We set up camp in the afternoon and headed off to the captain's meeting.

This was the sunrise for the day of the tournament. Beautiful.

The plan almost worked. In 30 minutes I had paddled to the south side of the spoil island we camped on. I had scouted what looked like a good flat. Tailing reds. Silver spoon and 28.5" red. Third place. No prize.

I think this is from another trip to Dunedin. There are always reds at Dunedin with the bonus of gator trout.

We stayed on the island a second night. It was my first taste of camping on the flats. I will plan to repeat the experience.

Fishing was not a good option as the tide was very low. Packrat and Dirty Dave look across the puddle that is St. Joseph Sound.
